Whether you’re single or have single friends, you’ve inevitably heard - it’s rough out there. The ability to endlessly filter and swipe has set an unrealistic expectation that we should meet the love of our lives any day now. That’s a lot of pressure and hope, all before even meeting. Combine that with a high-pressure interview-style dinner or coffee date for it all to fall short of those unrealistic expectations, and ouch. It’s no wonder people are burned out on dating. The setup, the environment- it’s all wrong.

So what if we change the format? ATX has an amazing array of nooks and crannies offering unique experiences to drop in on.

For an artsy, first-date adventure, drop into Something Cool Studios on Austin's East Side. Founded by local street artist Luis Angulo, aka "ULOANG," the studio celebrates graffiti as an interactive art form with rotating gallery exhibits that practically hand you conversation starters. Wander through the artwork, compare interpretations, and see where the conversation takes you.

**Drop In Tip:** Thursday nights are community sketch nights. Bring a sketchbook, join a welcoming group of local artists, and create something together. No artistic talent required, just an open heart.

If the vibe is there, wander a block over to Drinks Lounge & Vinyl. Flip through the record bins while you wait for your food, trade favorite albums, and learn a little about each other through music. Feeling a spark? Rack up a game of pool and find out if they're really a straight shooter.
