**The San Antonio-born singer-songwriter has carried her fiery blend of Tex-Mex rock ’n’ roll from Texas stages to Switzerland, Japan, and beyond, always trusting the song and the spirit behind it.**

There are artists who fit neatly into a genre, and then there’s Patricia Vonne. A singer-songwriter. Actress, animator, filmmaker, independent label owner, and, perhaps most recognizably, a dynamic Texas performer armed with a pair of castanets and a sound entirely her own.

Born in San Antonio, Vonne has built a career around a bilingual blend of Tex-Mex and rock ’n’ roll that feels deeply rooted in her home state while refusing to stay within its borders. Her music has taken her around the world, with performances at Switzerland’s prestigious Montreux Jazz Festival, the World Expo in Japan, the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, the Grand Ole Opry, and even the United Nations in New York City.

Now, Vonne is preparing to release her 10th album on her own independent label, another milestone in a career built through creativity, persistence and a willingness to trust her instincts.

## Finding Her Own Sound

Vonne points to an eclectic collection of artists when talking about the songwriters who first inspired her: Buddy Holly, Brian Setzer, Johnny Reno and Stevie Nicks.

It makes sense when you hear her describe her own performing and songwriting style in four words:

**“Dynamic, exciting, dramatic, fun!”**

Those words also capture the energy of an artist who has never limited herself to simply writing and performing songs. Vonne’s creative work stretches across music, acting, animation, and filmmaking, with each medium offering another way to tell a story.

Even after nearly 10 albums and performances on some of the world’s most recognizable stages, creative challenges don’t disappear. They simply change. For Vonne, one of those challenges has been finding the courage to approach an artist who inspired her own songwriting and ask them to collaborate.

There’s something refreshingly relatable about that admission. No matter how much an artist accomplishes, putting a creative idea in front of someone you admire still requires vulnerability.

## Trust the Song

When a song itself becomes difficult, Vonne has developed the philosophy to keep going. She believes in working an idea over and over, “flushing out the song,” as she describes it, no matter how many attempts it takes before the pieces finally become something whole. More importantly, she doesn’t believe in throwing away an idea simply because it isn’t working yet.

**“Never throw away a song idea,” Vonne says. “If you were inspired to write it in the first place, it came from your internal spirit and higher power. Trust it.”**

It’s advice that extends well beyond songwriting. Creative work rarely arrives perfectly formed. Sometimes an idea needs time. Sometimes it needs to be rewritten, pulled apart, and rebuilt. And sometimes the hardest part is simply believing there was a reason you felt compelled to create it in the first place. Vonne’s career proves what can happen when an artist keeps following that instinct.

From San Antonio to international stages, from her first songs to an upcoming 10th album, Patricia Vonne has continued creating on her own terms — bilingual, independent, theatrical, and unmistakably Texan.
